Jacobs Story Part 1
Jacob was
born happy and healthy In March of 2004.
For the first 18 months Jacob stayed home with mom as I took time off of
my employment of 17 years from injuries resulting from a car accident and
decided to return to school to continue my education. At 18 months I, his mother Lisa returned to
work, working long hours requiring that I be gone for more than 14 hours a day
on average and Jacob stayed with a live in babysitter. Jacob had a hard time adjusting to the change
and so did I. It wasn’t long before I
changed careers and found a job with more stable hours however my paycheck
reflected the change in a negative way.
While this transition took place Jacob was also transitioning into
visitation with his father. This took a toll
on Jacobs’s overall behavior. At the age
of 2 I decided to start Jacob in therapy due to behavior issues at home and in
daycare. I received multiple calls
regarding Jacob running out of the room and down the halls creating safety
issues. Eventually it led to Jacob being asked to leave daycare completely. During this time the man I had been dating was
also being introduced to my children, Jacob and Thomas. This man later on became the father of both
my daughters and Jacobs’s sisters Kolisa and Kamora. I continued to keep Jacob in therapy hoping to
figure out how to control my son’s behavior issues. In October 2007, Jacobs’s sister Kolisa was
born and he was always so good to her even though his behaviors in the home
continued. He was happy to be a big brother.
Then in September of 2009 his other younger sister Kamora was born and
he was just as happy with her as he was with Kolisa. And life went on until tragedy hit our family
on October 22, 2008 and Kamora was taken to the ER and our lives as we knew it
changed forever. To find out about
Kamora please read Kamora’s story Part 1.
